Dual Music Player That Plays Your MP3 Collection & Your CDs

You want to enjoy your audio CDs while traveling but you also have a huge MP3 collection at home that you want to take with you. The ideal solution? DMP, a portable music player that supports CD and MP3 files. Use the MP3 player as you normally would, hang it around your neck, clip it on your jeans or place it in your pocket. Otherwise open both sides and insert your favorite CD and you got yourself a CD player my friend. Now that’s music to my ears.

Panoramic Digital Camera Spins Like A Top

The next time you wanna capture a good panoramic picture of your vacation in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, put down that tripod and expensive digital camera. Use the Panoramic Digital Camera instead. Just make sure it’s sitting on a level surface, angle it, push a button and watch it spin to take the perfect 360ยบ view of your surroundings. Everything saves to a memory card and yes it’ll do video too. Is it real? No, but it’s a sound concept.

Our WBS

We had choosed Agile Method, which is a new approach of softwre development. Each software development process model have their own project schedule or their own work breakdown structure which is consisting of phases, steps, activities and estimates the time needed for each activities.

Because of the Agile method is less documentation, so our WBS might have less phases than the other groups. We would like to appologize to Pn. Badariah because of the late submission of our WBS. Below is our WBS, please click it to enlarge the graph.

Chapter 3: Planning and Managing the Project

In this chapter, we will look at:

  • Tracking Progress

  • Project porsonnel and organization

  • Effort and schedule estimation

  • Risk management

  • Using process modeling with project planning

I'll explain more in Tracking Progress.

Tracking Progress

A typical projects begins when a client approaches the developers to discuss a perceived need. This is during the Requirements Analysis phase in any software process models. This phase will lead to a design phase because design phase depends on the needs of certain customer. To meets with their requirements, a well-thought-out Project Schedule will be needed.

A Project Schedule is to describes the software-development cycle for a particular project by enumerating the phases or stages of the project and breaking each into discrete tasks or activities to be done. It also potrays the interactions among the activities and estimates the times that each activity will take.

To determine the project schedule, we will begin by working with customers and potential users to understand what they want and need. At the same time, we make sure that they are comfortable with our knowledge of their needs. During project development, the customer also take part of it. They will expects to see the deliverables which is the documents, demonstration of function, demonstrations of subsystems, demonstration of accuracy and the demonstration of reliability, security or performance of the project. To produce this deliverables, the developers must determine milestones and what the activities, what must happend and which activities depend on other activities, products or resources. A milestone is the completion of an activity - a particular point in time.

Project development can be separated into a succession of phases which are composed of steps, and each step can be subdived further into activities if necessary. Below is the graph of the project schedule.

  • Feature Driven Development (FDD)
  • Lean Software Development
  • Agile Unified Process ( AUP )

Discussion on 27 July

Last friday (on 27 July) we had a group meeting..
it is basically about the upcoming task which is :
  • presentation. (will be held on next tuesday or thursday..during class time)

Agile Method

Agile methods emphasize real-time communication, preferably face-to-face, over written documents. Most of the agile teams are located in somewhere or an open seating arrangement and include all the people that necessary to finish a software or project.
At a minimum, this arrangement includes the programmers (which is for this task, all of us as the programmers) and their clients (which is our lecturer, Pn. Badariah).
Agile methods also emphasize working software as the primary measure of progress. Combined with the preference for face-to-face communication, agile methods produce very little written documentation relative to other methods.

Our Group Model

Yesterday Pn. Badariah asked each groups to discuss which model should we choosed for our project. So,our group had choosed "Agile Method" because this method need less documentation and more practical to use.Our task is just to produce a web portal, which is not so complex. So,it is suitable for us to use the Agile Method....

Software Development Process Models

•Waterfall model
•V model
•Prototyping model
•Operational specification
•Transformational model
•Phased development: increments and iterations
•Spiral model
•Agile methods

The Software Engineering Profession

Most software engineers work as employees or contractors. Software engineers work with businesses, government agencies (civilian or military), and non-profit organizations. Some software engineers work for themselves as freelancers. Some organizations have specialists to perform each of the tasks in the software development software. Other organizations required software engineers to do many or all of them. In large projects, people may specialize in only one role. In small projects, people may fill several or all roles at the same time. Specializations include: in industry (analysts, architects, developers, testers, technical support, managers) and in academia (educators, researchers).

There is considerable debate over the future employment prospects for Software Engineers and other IT Professionals. For example, an online futures market called the Future of IT Jobs in America attempts to answer whether there will be more IT jobs, including software engineers, in 2012 than there were in 2002.

Software engineering formal definition

Typical formal definitions of software engineering are

  • "the application of a systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approach to the development, operation, and maintenance of software".
  • "an engineering discipline that is concerned with all aspects of software production"
  • "the establishment and use of sound engineering principles in order to economically obtain software that is reliable and works efficiently on real machines"

ROLE OF WOMEN!

In the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s, men often filled the more prestigious and better paying hardware engineering roles, but often delegated the writing of software to women. Grace Hopper, Jamie Fenton and many other unsung women filled many programming jobs during the first several decades of software engineering. Today, many fewer women work in software engineering than in other professions, a complex problem related to sexual discrimination, cyberculture, education, and individual identity, and one which many academic and professional organizations are trying hard to solve.

Look, no hands

This car can drive itself from A to B. It's taking part in the Darpa Grand Challenge, a Pentagon contest for inventors.to come up with self-driving vehicles - and the ideas are already starting to be used in today's cars.

On a quiet university campus across the water from San Francisco, an enthusiastic bunch of young computer boffins are working on what could be the car of the future.

The car moves, slowly forward, like a learner terrified of touching the accelerator. The steering wheel is turning. It is driving itself. The speed is frustratingly slow, and from time to time the car veers towards the verge.
But what's impressive is that no-one is sitting inside.

In the future, we could all be back-seat drivers.

Vibrating rings guide city tourists

Two vibrating rings which can guide the wearer around a city via global positioning satellite (GPS) have been unveiled by a British designer at the Royal College of Art.
The rings are the invention of Gail Knight, who developed them as a way of helping women feel safe in areas they are unfamiliar with.

Buzz for direction
Not all of the necessary electronics could be put into the rings, so the device controller is worn either around the neck or clipped on to clothing.

The controller has a display of eight digits, which allows for a postcode to be entered. It also houses an electronic compass and GPS system, which is what powers the device's navigation. The signal is then transmitted to the two rings, inside of which are a small vibrating motor and antenna.

The rings buzz for left and right, and have different vibrations for forwards and backwards. Both buzz when going in the wrong direction.

2nd task~

1st task finished..

now nearly deadline to the 2nd task: Presentation
  • everything about this blog and the job distributions among us

so all the best to all !!

p/s: sorry for any inconvenience.this blog is still under construction . but we'll fix it and keep on updating it.

One turned to the other and said, "Hello.
"The other one thought, "I wonder what he meant by that."
